Edfu TempleThis temple is much younger than the other temples I've seen. it was built during the years 220 BC to 40 BC by Ptolomy Kings 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8. Chrisitans lived in this temple for 300 years after the Romans invaded Egypt. They defaced many of the carvings as an act of revenge because the Romans had burned down their church. I guess they didn't know the temple was from Ptolomy and that Ptolomy wasn't Roman. When the muslims came, the temple became a market place. This is a temple for the god Horus, the falcon god of protection. This temple has a holy of holies.

it's a good thing these temples were all so massive, they accomodate a lot of tourists at one time!
